Seventh heaven for Polo in July 2015 UK best-selling car sales chart

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has released its monthly UK sales figures and once again the Volkswagen Polo sits in the top 10 best-selling car chart. One place higher than in June at number seven, Volkswagen UK sold 3620 Polos in July. The Ford Fiesta was the most popular new model once again, with a total of 8504 examples finding homes.

A total of 178,420 cars were registered in July, a rise of 3.2 per cent on the same month in 2014. Year-to-date sales in 2015 are up 6.5 per cent to 1,555,309 units: July 2015 was the 41st consecutive month of growth with the biggest volume rises seen in the supermini an SUV markets. The UK’s top 10 best-selling passenger cars during July 2015 and the year so far (sales figure and position in brackets) are as follows:

Volkswagen Polo is the eighth most popular car in the UK

According to sales figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), the Volkswagen Polo was the eighth best-selling car in the UK last month. Repeating the top 10 success it has enjoyed during the first half of the year, 5457 Polos were sold by Volkswagen UK in June 2015. Once again, the Ford Fiesta was the most popular new model.

New car registrations were up 7.0 per cent in the first half of 2015 to 1,376,889, according to the SMMT. The organisation states that it was the highest half-year performance on record. June also marked the 40th consecutive month of growth in the UK. The UK’s top 10 best-selling passenger cars during June 2015 and the year so far (sales figure and position in brackets) are as follows:

Seventh-placed Volkswagen Polo stands firm in UK top-sellers list

Holding firm in the sales stakes, the Volkswagen Polo was the seventh best-selling car in the UK last month according to the latest sales figures announced by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). A total of 4028 Polos found new homes in the UK during May 2015. The popular first-placed Ford Fiesta continued its market dominance with 9349 cars sold.

The latest SMMT tallies show that May new car registrations were up 2.4 per cent to 198,706 units, recording the 39th consecutive month of growth. 2015 new car registrations are up 5.7 per cent overall, with 1,119,072 units sold. The UK’s top 10 best-selling passenger cars during May 2015 and the year so far (sales figure and position in brackets) are as follows:

Volkswagen Polo retains sixth place in UK best-sellers chart

In a repeat of its sales performance in March, the Volkswagen Polo was the sixth best-selling car in the UK during April 2015. According to the latest figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), 4674 examples found new homes last month. Once again, the Ford Fiesta was the top-seller, with 10,294 cars sold.

The SMMT reported that 2015 was the strongest April for a decade, with demand rising by 5.1 per cent to 185,778 units – the month’s best performance since 2005. So far, 2015 year-to-date registrations are up 6.4 per cent to 920,366. The UK’s top 10 best-selling passenger cars during April 2015 and the year so far (sales figure and position in brackets) are as follows:

Polo boosted to sixth place in UK best-selling cars chart

It may have been absent in February, but the Volkswagen Polo re-entered the top 10 UK best-selling cars chart last month according to figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). Sitting at number six in March’s best-seller list, the Polo sold 10,038 units, contributing to its total of 14,821 for the year so far. The new UK ‘15’ registration plate change may have boosted the Polo’s success, along with the introduction of new models, including the performance-orientated GTI.

The Ford Fiesta was still overall market leader with 27,034 examples finding homes, while the revitalised Vauxhall Corsa also had a strong showing, one place behind the small Ford with 19,391 cars sold. The SMMT reports that March 2015 was the best month this century for new UK car registrations with 492,774 vehicles registered in March, up 6.0 per cent on the same month last year.

Mike Hawes, SMMT Chief Executive, said: ‘The best month this century for new car registrations is a welcome boost for the UK’s thriving automotive sector. The challenge for a new government will be to maintain this momentum and to strengthen Britain’s manufacturing capabilities through continued investment, innovation and policies which maintain our global competitiveness.’
