9N3 Polo GTI owners wanted for Volkswagen Driver model profile
With the advent of the new 1.4 TFSI Polo GTI, UK VW magazine Volkswagen Driver is looking for owners of 9N3 Polo GTI (2006-2010) owners to give short opinions on ownership for a forthcoming model profile. In production for four years, the 9N3 GTI had a 1.8-litre, turbocharged engine, good for 148bhp, 0-62mph in 8.2 seconds, and a top speed of 134mph. Only eclipsed by the continental market-only 9N3-based Polo GTI Cup Edition with 178bhp, the outgoing GTI was the most powerful series production Polo at the time. Interested 9N3 Polo GTI owners should email Volkswagen Driver editor Neil Birkitt as soon as possible.
It’s a great car and ticked all my boxes. Even 3 yrs down the line I still enjoy it enough going for a drive just for the sake of it.
Other people have mentioned it elsewhere but as it never a mega seller you do feel special and individual.
Of course that is when you car isn’t in bits at VW dealer awaiting a cambelt tensioner from Germany… 4 weeks off road already and no end date in sight. Its ironic that after 3.5 yrs of trouble free motoring that it has all come in one go.
Yes, hurrah, it’s back.
After 5 weeks off road, its back together and on the road. It felt like getting a new car picking it up today after so long.
Such a relief and great to have a bit of power again.
Excellent news Andy.
How on earth do VW need that amount of time just to get a cambelt tensioner for the venerable 1.8T engine?
I’m sure the 9N3 was probably the last car it was installed in, so was probably a late revision, but still?!
Hi Court
The problem seems to be that the cambelt and tensioners do not come as a single kit. The items had to be ordered separately. Then they discovered problem with whole UK batch of tensioners which meant going back to Germany for new supplies.
Hence delay, what a nightmare. Not quite over yet but looking much better.
