With the first examples of the New Polo set to hit UK shores in the next month, PoloDriver.com has just published a 14-page mini-magazine which features our first drive findings from the International Press Presentation in Germany of the refreshed 6R model.

Variants covered are the 59bhp 1.0 MPI, 89bhp 1.2 TSI, 89bhp 1.4 TDI as well as the CrossPolo 1.2 TSI. There are technical specifications of each model, too, as well as engine availability for models destined for the UK, and a brief overview of some of the exciting new technology the car incorporates.

With three in-house rivals, the Polo GTI is one of a four-strong Volkswagen Group attack on the hot supermini market. The Audi A1 1.4 TFSI Sport, SEAT Ibiza Cupra, Škoda Fabia vRS and Volkswagen Polo GTI all employ the same 1.4-litre ‘twincharged’ engine, and all pump out, more or less, 180bhp. So, are there any real differences? We thought it was about time we found out. We recently had a Fabia vRS from Škoda UK’s press fleet spend a few days with us, to see if there really is £2645 worth of difference between it and the hot Polo. In late summer, one of Volkswagen UK’s press fleet Polo GTIs came to rural Dorset with us for a 1000-mile test. J6 VWW experienced country lanes, motorways, and town roads in its time with us, and today, we’ve published a 14-page digital mini-magazine of our 14-day findings with the car. We first drove the latest performance Polo back in June, but the lanes in and around and south coast really gave us a chance to stretch its legs.
